How do you typically start your workday?
My ideal day begins with planning over breakfast - making a to-do list and prioritising certain tasks for the day. Before having a seat at my desk, I organise my table which gives me a sense of mental clarity. Once I am on work mode, I watch videos on innovation, read up on new technology, and then start my day. Conquering the first hour or so of your morning is key to having a great day at work.
Describe your work in a sentence.
Overseeing the company's data, security, digital platform, operations and web maintenance.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
I love designing new technologies.
What advice would you give your younger self, if you could?
Work towards your passion, else the idea will gradually fade away. Be open to new experiences and new ideas. Step out of your comfort zone; nobody achieves anything great by staying within it. Don't be afraid to take risks. Be optimistic and be a visionary. Prepare to make sacrifices - it may not be fun to give up on weekend parties with friends but the result is very much worth the wait.
How do you maintain a work-life balance?
Being a bachelor means I dedicate a lot of my time to my work. However, I firmly believe that in order to have a good work-life balance, one must have certain priorities in life and stand by them. When my parent visit, I ensure they have my full attention. When I'm at work, I'm a fighter.
Any advice for youngsters just getting into the professional arena?
Career success is the result of constant effort - this is a universal truth. Achievement, in any form, comes as a result of the work you put in. Luck is not success. Circumstance is not an achievement. Success is a result of effort. Get a mentor or an advisor to help you plan your next endeavour. Create a priority list for the next three years so you have a direction towards which you are working. And know that it is okay to fail - but remember to learn from it so you don't repeat the same mistakes.
A fictional character you think would make for a good role model - and why?
Iron Man! A wealthy American business magnate and ingenious scientist, who creates a powered suit of armour to save his life when kidnapped. Like Iron Man, I want to revolutionise the tech industry and develop better technology to help solve issues.
What is your greatest dream, professionally?
When we are young, we have multiple dreams at different stages of our lives. I have gone from wanting to become a pilot, to a cook to an athlete. My vision changed as I got older and started to code and create my own programmes and modified operating systems. That's when I knew I wanted to be a entrepreneur behind successful tech companies. I have started with Glamazle.com, and the journey continues as I work on my next project!
