Denim is a transitional piece that never truly goes out of fashion; it just updates season after season. If you haven't embraced the seasonal update already, then make your stylish start with the high-rise, straight-leg jean, elegant yet effortless. Many love them for the figure-flattering silhouette they achieve.

The high-rise jean is on the rise, but save your super-skinny versions because we're sure they'll make a comeback soon.

Gone are the days of basic black and blue. For a new season update, check out off-white and tan denim. My personal shopping destinations are Zara, Mango, JBrand and Frame because they are right on trend with their fashion-forward coloured offerings.

An oversized denim jacket is great for the current slightly cooler evenings, pair it with different jean washes or over your shoulders draped over a dress.

Jumpsuits featuring shorts, slim and wide trouser silhouette, short and long sleeve are a key feature for this season. Check out brands like Frame, JBrand, Balmain, Retrofête and Sea. A jumpsuit offers the perfect solution to finding two coordinating denim washes that work well together. Remember that attention to detail matters! Whether that's patchwork or a buckle at the ankle that you can tighten to create a super baggy look is all elevating the overall look feel of denim.

Finally, another denim trend we'll be seeing a lot of (and one that we believe is here to stay) is the concept of sustainability. As more consumers develop a stronger desire to care for the planet, retailers are creating collections of stretch biodegradable denim and initiatives such as the Banana Republic, which uses less in the garment wash process and the genuine desire to source 100 per cent sustainable fibres.

ALWAYS IN VOGUE

Denim is always hip and happening. No matter the era we are in, this fab versatile trend has stood the test of time, leaving a mark in all each decade. Ripped jeans, retro jackets, fresh shirts and chic skirts - every Dubai resident would probably have at least one denim accessory in their wardrobe.

The timeless classic is no longer limited to the casual code. Modern workplaces have welcomed the fabric, while fine dining spots allow denim-laced outfits, considering it matches up to standards, of course.

Here are some experts to give tips on styling your favourite piece and making it work for all types of events:

  • In an office environment, it's all about striking the right balance between casual and corporate. Pair your jeans with a blazer. For the ladies, pair it with smart heels and a feminine purse; for the gents, opt for loafers and a classy handbag.
  • If the dress code says smart casual, it's the perfect opportunity to mix your denim with dressier pieces. An outfit paired with a well-fitting denim jacket is a great way to wear the fabric without looking too dressed down. Sandals, heels, or sneakers all complement this look. For the trendy chic, a denim skirt is a fab replacement for your go-to skinny jeans and looks great when worn with a loose-fitting shirt that is tucked in. A trendy belt takes this outfit up a notch, while casual sneakers or flats keep it cool.
  • Darker denim works best for the evening, while a structured shape strikes the perfect balance between trousers and jeans. They look great paired with a casual tee, a silky top, or loose shirt and manage to look just the right amount of polished.
  • Today, denims are available in many fits and silhouettes, you have a lot of choices. High waists pair well with fitted tops and do wonders for elongating your legs, especially when paired with good shoes. For a classic look, opt for denim jeans that feel snug but not too tight when the buttons are done up.
  • Personalise your outfit by donning a character top to reflect your unique aesthetic. Pick one with your favourite pop personality, classic cartoon icons, or superheroes.
