As many as 220 Covid-related fines were issued against violators in Umm Al Quwain last month.

The Umm Al Quwain Municipality announced it had issued 149 fines to businesses in the emirate for failing to comply with protocols designed to limit the spread of Covid-19.

The crackdown was part of an initiative carried out in cooperation with teams from the local Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.

In the interests of ensuring strict compliance with the recently imposed Covid safety rules, the campaign inspected all fitness centres, gyms, factories, car washes, restaurants and commercial establishments in the emirate.

Authorities noted it had also fined 71 individuals during inspections.

Ninety-two warnings were also issued to non-compliant outlets.

Authorities have urged all institutions and individuals to take necessary measures to maintain public health.
